Adding Additional Details to Events
When titles and times can’t tell the whole story for an event, you can add additional details to fill in the gaps. Events can hold people, places, ideas, and more, so you can feel confident that you are receiving all the information necessary.
People and Places¶
For events with specific people or places, the easiest way to add information is through natural language input. Natural language input allows you to write titles like you’d write them in a physical calendar; for example, you could type “Dinner with Karen at 7 p.m.” and Timepage would recognize both the name and date and input them into your calendar.
In practice, the process is simple:
- Add an event either in Day View, Heat Map, or with 3D Touch
- Type the activity (Dinner, Workout, etc.)
- If another person is involved, type their name
- If the person added is in your contacts, Timepage will surface their information
- If the person added is not in your contacts, the title will simply display their name
- If there is a time set for the event, type it with either “a.m.” or “p.m."
Natural language inputs can support both places and people, but don’t feel obligated to include both – Timepage can also handle one or the other.
The information can also be added after an item was created by opening an event and tapping either the time or the People header. By tapping on People, you can add other event members through their email.
Location and Notes¶
For future reference, adding location and notes are perfect for when the event rolls around. After entering an item you’ve added to Timepage, you can view and edit where it’ll take place, as well as what it entails.
With Location, you can:
- Add a specific location
- Search for an address to directions
- Create a custom option for other locations, like “Skype,” “Phone,” or others
In notes, write as little or as much as you’d like – Timepage supports an infinite character limit. You can even include emoji!
With reminders set up on your events, Timepage can help ensure that nothing ever falls through the cracks. Relayed through notifications, reminders can be customized to appear at set intervals across multiple times, giving you the freedom to stay informed as the event approaches.
To set up a reminder, tap into an event and scroll until you see the Reminders header. Here, you can customize how often and when you'll be reminded of the upcoming event. In total, you can be reminded six times about an item you've added to Timepage with the frequencies of:
- One week before
- One day before
- Two hours before
- One hour before
- 30 minutes before
- 15 minutes before
- 10 minutes before
- Five minutes before
- When event starts
Although you can't be reminded at all of those intervals at once, there are plenty of combinations that will allow you to keep track of that important event coming up.
Repeating events are perfect for lots of activities – consistent meetings, weekly practices, starting new habits, and more. Instead of having to add a new item for everything in your calendar, repeats allow you to carry over information every time the activity is scheduled. Like the options above, repeats can be found while viewing an event. Near the bottom of the list is the Repeats header – tap it to create a repeat.
Repeats in Timepage can be as simple or as complex as you need. For example, if you want an event to repeat every day, just tap "Daily," choose the one day interval, and select an end date. For the more infrequent or inconsistent events, you can make the necessary adjustments for a different time scale. Here are the various repeat options:
- Frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly)
- Repeat interval (examples: 1 day, 2 weeks repeating on Sunday, 3 months repeating every 4th Thursday, 4 years)
- End (never, after a number of times, or on a specific date)
If you find yourself lost in your own repeat schedule during setup, refer to the header of the repeat menu. This will write out what you've committed to, like "repeats every month, forever."
